About this app

The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) app from U.S. Customs and Border Protection allows Nationals of Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries to apply and pay for a travel authorization without a visa. The ESTA app is a mobile version of the ESTA application process and information that can also be found on the ESTA website at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov.

The ESTA app currently has two features available: Apply for New Individual Application and Search for Existing Application.
• The “GET STARTED” feature allows travelers to create a new ESTA application, pay for the ESTA and submit the application to be processed by the system to determine if they are eligible to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program without a visa. The system will provide the traveler with an automated response.
• The “FIND IT” feature allows travelers to check the status of their existing ESTA application..
CBP recommends that you apply for ESTA at the time you book your travel, but no less than 72 hours prior to boarding.

Takes forever, could be so much easier to navigate through. Endless times scrolling through the alphabet to get to the UK when they already know it's the UK. No choice but to scroll through each time, so just takes longer and longer. Mobile phone numbers rejected as probably need to remove leading zero. But a box pops up first to say invalid and tick to say number is actually correct, but that makes no difference so it's pointless doing it. exasperating because so many steps just to get that f

difficult to use on a mobile as site will reject continuation of form if you leave a page to retrieve your passcode sent to email. you've got to use two separate devices at this point. took me several attempts before realising the problem.

It should automatically save the process, or instead of say "save and exit" just say "save progress". The application is asking so many things when you go and find the answer the application is gone doesn't matter how far you have gone. It is very annoying I had to do it from scratch 2-3 times as it just lost the progress with no warning.
