About this app

Couples Coach is designed for partners who want to improve their relationship and explore new ways to connect. The app takes users through five levels of expert-written education and engaging behavioral exercises informed by science. Popular exercises like Using I Messages and Active Listening are brought to life in a dynamic and interactive format.

Couples Coach pairs up partners as they explore assessments and share results, learn about different approaches to common relationship issues and review available resources in their communities. It also includes comprehensive relationship information for couples living with PTSD.

Although Couples Coach can help improve communication and satisfaction in your relationship, it isn’t a replacement for face-to-face couples counseling. The app features a couples counseling locator for finding a professional counselor along with several other local and national resources. Learn more about how to find a good couples therapist and take your relationship to the next level.

This app is the first of its kind, and continued development is in progress. This first trial release presents a unique opportunity for users to try the beta version and share feedback to improve the app. Join our design team! Couples Coach was made by the mobile mental health team of the National Center for PTSD, Dissemination & Training Division.

Got this app in Jan. of 2026. My husband & I were able to pair up easily & it has been really great. it's a way to open communication. we usually work on it while we're at work & discuss it in person in the evening or on the weekends. we made it to level four, we take it seriously & been In competition & it's just been really fun. about 3 days ago every time we try to open it, it throws an error & says internal issue has occurred. now we can't use it at all. please fix. 5 stars if fixed!

Sadly can't connect with my partner, tried multiple methods including reinstalling, sending the share from my phone or theirs, and email. We either get an eternal loading screen or an 'internal error occured' message. still 2 stars because there are a few things you can do without connecting with your partner but very limited.

Worked for a few minutes. Started filling things out then invited my spouse to download the app and figured I'd come back to it later. Now it won't open. Just sits on the splash screen stuck and burning up my battery. Sad, because I was really looking forward to using this app and working with my spouse on building a better and stronger relationship. :-(
