MindShift will help you learn how to relax, develop more helpful ways of thinking, and identify active steps that will help you take charge of your anxiety. This app includes strategies to deal with everyday anxiety, as well as specific tools to tackle:
• Test Anxiety
• Social Anxiety
• Performance Anxiety
Think of MindShift as your portable coach helping you face challenging situations and take charge of your life.
MindShift is the work of a joint collaboration between AnxietyBC (http://www.anxietybc.com) and BC Mental Health & Addiction Services (http://www.bcmhas.ca).
All material was written by a licensed psychotherapist (LCSW) with twenty-five years of counseling experience.
You first rate your level of anxiety on a color coded scale of 1 (slightly nervous) to 10 (panicked).
You then move on to the first set of skills, where you will select one of ten different calming activities to perform.
After following the instructions for the calming activity, proceed to Step 2 where you will select ways to change your thoughts. Changing your thoughts in order to change your feelings is the basis of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, the most widely practiced evidence based form of psychotherapy.
After utilizing the thought changers, you proceed to Step 3 selecting a solution for the problem that triggered your anxiety.
After implementing your solution, you rate your level of anxiety again in Step 4 in order to determine if the skills you chose were effective for you. If your level of anxiety has not reduced sufficiently, you will be given the opportunity to try again, selecting a different skill set.
Daily panic attacks where normal since that point. I was consulting several doctors and prescribed different medications to ease the symptoms. As long as I was not in a stressing situation, everything was fine. But in certain situations, the panic attacks came bock with its full power.

experience (for example, combat, deployment experience, or sexual assault), the PE Coach mobile
application (app) may be part of the solution. PE Coach is designed to be used during psychotherapy
provided by a behavioral health professional who is trained in Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy. By
itself this smartphone app is not sufficient to treat posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PE Coach is
not a self-help tool. However, military Veterans, Service members, and others with symptoms of PTSD
who are receiving PE treatment can work together with their therapist to use the tools in this app
during PE therapy to process the traumatic experience and reduce anxiety and fear.
The app will guide you through the exercises assigned by your therapist and allows you to track and
record your progress in treatment. In addition, the app provides you with techniques such as controlled
breathing that will help you tolerate and decrease your distress. PE Coach will help you remember and
track your upcoming therapy sessions. You and your therapist will be able to audio record your sessions
directly onto your phone so that you can review them later as part of your treatment.
This app is based on the Oxford University Press treatment workbook for PE, “Reclaiming your Life
From a Traumatic Experience”. The app was designed with military Service members in mind but will be
useful to any trauma survivor participating in PE treatment.
