About this app

Max Impact is a reliable back-pocket support system for veterans who experience challenges from traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Much like the role a service dog plays in the life of a veteran with PTSD or TBI, “Max” helps the user manage their symptoms, learn about TBI and connect with others to share and support one another. Max Impact allows users to check in with how they are feeling, pick a current challenge they might want to work on and Max will guide them to resources that fit their needs. Max is a dependable companion to any veteran or caregiver living with TBI.

Max Impact features include:

Personalized “check in” feature for mood and symptom management that suggests activities to help with daily challenges

Brain stimulation games for memory, concentration and distraction

Relaxation tools such as meditation exercises, soothing sounds and a breathing tool

A provider finder feature to help locate professional and peer support help available in Washington State

A TBI screening tool

Tips to help navigate and manage TBI symptoms

Instant access to a peer supported private Facebook group connecting with fellow veterans with TBI

Customizable personal contacts section to list your TBI care advocates, friends and family

National and Washington state based TBI-related links and resources

US Department of Defense statistics indicate more than 300,000 service members have been diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) since 2000. Using this and other trend data, it is estimated that over 13,000 Washington Veterans may have a TBI, many of which are not diagnosed and remain untreated. Washington State Department of Veteran Affairs (WDVA) mission is to reach and assist Veterans, their families and caregivers living with a TBI through the use of Max Impact.

Max Impact was funded through a grant from the Washington State Traumatic Injury Advisory Council and produced by the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA).

This has a lot of great resources, games, and information! Good for "impacted" family members, too (even Veteran's family members/civilians who have suffered a TBI themselves). Thank you!
