About this app

Gov.gr Wallet is the official Greek wallet application, which is available through the official account of the Hellenic Republic, it enables the creation, storage and control of the new digital identity cards and digital driving licenses.

The new digital identity cards and driver's license are digital documents issued through gov.gr and are fully equivalent to paper documents, for any legal use within the Greek territory. They are not international travel documents.

To create a digital identity card and driver's license, your personal TaxisNet codes and the possession of a confirmed mobile phone number in EMEp are necessary.

new phone issue and solution: For those having an issue with the SMS verification, clearing the data and disabling automatic restore did not work. What did work was putting the SIM in the old phone requesting another SMS from the new one, and finally putting the SIM in the new one. All of a sudden I got like 20 codes from the previous attempts. I requested a final one, it came and it worked.

10/2025 1. added id and car details easily 2. when I tried to add my driver licence it kept saying "not possible to add drv. lic.) 3. the app has no way to lock/protect the documents on its own (!!!). It relies on phone's method of screen locking. If like me, you leave it unlocked (not to lose calls while trying to unlock), gov wallet simply does not work so: half usable, lazy security design, just to match the rest of greek public services

Cannot use it in a 'Moto g23' smartphone. After the authorisation screen & the fingerprint scanning it throws an error message: " java.lang.illegalStateException: Expected BEGIN_OBJECT but was STRING at line 1 column 1 path $ ". Please fix! Sep.2024 Update: it seems that the app is working now. We will see... But I am still expecting the addition of the blood donor card... update 2025: I do not know who is messing with the development of the app but, again, it is not working
