About this app
“Waste Less” is a mobile app developed by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Its primary function is to show nearby collection points for recyclable items via a map on your device, with details, including photos, address, recyclable types, opening hours, etc.
Besides, “Waste Less” has the following functions:
- “Search” function to find out the most suitable collection points for recyclable items;
- “Clean Recycling” to coach and encourage members of the public to practice some simple steps before recycling;
- “My Recycling Diary” to record their daily recycling efforts;
- “Knowledge” to show good waste reduction and recovery practices;
- “Recycling Info” to broadcast news about waste management, reduction and recovery in Hong Kong; and
- “Share” function to share the contents of this app.
This mobile app has been updated to incorporate with functions of Mobile Apps Accessibility according to “Baseline Accessibility Criteria for Government Mobile App” issued by Office of the Government Chief Information Officer. I'm looking for CLEANED plastic bottle recycling sites but can't find the info. To be honest, most plastics are not cleaned & I don't know whether they will be recycled. Thanks for your response.

There are now over 5000 recyclable collection points in HK receiving waste plastics.To find a recycling point capable of receiving plastic bottles near your place,you can use the Search function on top left corner in the Collection Points page.You can input the address and choose "plastic" to facilitate the search of recycling bins nearby.

If the app includes info of food waste collection points, that'll be perfect =) Furthermore, try provide function that users can hide and unhide items from the legend.

Thank you for using the Waste Less App. WasteLess has carried out various enhancement since its launching in 2014 to enhance its content and users' experiences. Your suggestion to include info of food waste collection points, is particular useful. We will keep on including more recycling information in WasteLess at suitable juncture.
