Community babysitting alternative. In our community, moms take turns looking after each other's children, so parents get some me-time and kids find playmates.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Create a Mamasitter profile, get to know moms in your area, and find the ones you trust the most. Start helping each other out with them in turns.
INNER CIRCLES
Once you've found the moms you trust (you can have one or more), create an Inner Circle and start helping each other out. The calendar within the circle helps everyone see who's available and when, and who needs help.
THE POINT SYSTEM
1 child = 1 hour = 1 point. When you look after someone's child, you get points. When you need help yourself, you can redeem your points with any member of the community. We'll give you 5 points when you leave.
COMMUNITY LIFE BEYOND YOUR NARROW CIRCLE
In addition to your Inner Circle, there's also the wider community. Get to know moms in your area at Mamasitter meetings, or organize one yourself: an informal playground gathering, baby-mom circle, clothing exchange. Do you have an extra portion of food that you'd like to give to someone? Could the child use something to borrow (a sled, rubber boots, a highchair)? The community is here for these too.
