- Description:
112 India App is an integral part of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), a Government of India initiative to offer citizens a single, pan-India emergency response platform. On completion of 6 years of successful operations, a new version of 112 India app was released with new features to enhance the services provided to citizens.

112 the Single Emergency Number is the vision of the Ministry of Home Affairs, to ensure safety to all citizens of Bharat. The app is functional in all 36 states/UTs of India.

- How the APP Works?

While in an emergency situation, anyone in distress is able to make a call from the 112 India App, to seek local emergency service.

The application triggers an emergency message with the user's information (name, age, emergency contacts) and current location to the State Emergency Control Room along with the user's emergency contacts.
The APP also initiates a call to ‘112’.
On receiving the SOS, immediately the service providers will contact the person in distress and provide the required support, at the earliest.
App also comes with many new features like requesting volunteer assistance, and tracking your trip on request, to ensure a safe journey.
People with special needs, can register selecting their preference, and avail informed services at the time of emergency.

The new app provides options to receive regional notifications, and alerts.
Citizens can also register as volunteers, through APP and app load documents for verification. Once approved by the authority, you can provide assistance to the nearby victims who are in trouble. Alerts of nearby victims are pushed as messages, followed by an audible and visual alert on their phones.
To get these alerts, the individual has to enable volunteer availability as “Online”.

The App currently provides quick access to three major services like police, fire and medical and also integrates the major helplines like disaster, railways, child, woman and elderly.
