About this app

UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is envisaged to make e-governance 'mobile first'. It is developed by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD).

It is an evolving platform designed for citizens of India to offer them access to the pan-India e-Gov services from the Central, State, Local Bodies, and Agencies of government on app, web, SMS, and IVR channels.

Key Features:
- Unified Platform: It brings together all government departments and their services on a single platform to provide better and easier services to citizens.
- Mobile First Strategy: It aligns all government services with the mobile first strategy to leverage mobile adoption trends.
- Integration with Digital India Services: It provides seamless integration with other Digital India Services like Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and PayGov. Any new such service will automatically be integrated with the platform.
- Uniform Experience: It is designed to enable citizens to discover, download, access, and use all government services easily.
- Secure and Scalable: It supports Aadhaar-based and other authentication mechanisms for service access. The sensitive profile data is saved in an encrypted format and no one can view this information.

Ratings and reviews

The working of this app is pathetic beyond words! Not a single service, even as simple as viewing my passbook, works without multiple attempts. It took DAYS to log in to my account, and even after I was miraculously able to log in, I was unable to do what I went there to do in the first place! Even now, it consistently shows there was a problem from their end. The incompetence and uselessness of this app and the website should be considered new wonder of this world. Shameless and utter waste!

I use the UMANG app to access my EPFO details, but the experience has been extremely frustrating. Most of the time the app is very slow, and frequently the services are unavailable. On many occasions, I’m unable to check even basic information, and only rarely does it work as expected. Overall, it has been quite an unreliable and disappointing experience.

I've been using the UMANG app for a while, and it genuinely makes government services easier to access. Whether it's checking PF balance, downloading certificates, or tracking applications, everything is available in one app. The interface is simple, though it can feel a bit slow during peak hours. Still, it's a really helpful app for daily government-related tasks.
