What is BHIM?

BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is a UPI enabled initiative to facilitate safe, easy & instant digital payments through your mobile phone.

Requirements:

Before you register on the app, please ensure the following:

You have linked your Mobile Number with your Bank Account and the same is used for accessing BHIM.

Your phone should have an active SIM linked to your Bank Account.

In case of Dual SIM, kindly ensure that you’ve selected the SIM card linked to your Bank Account.

You have a valid Debit Card for your Bank Account. This is required to generate UPI PIN.

Ratings and reviews

This app’s UI is terrible. No option to manually enter OTP, and auto-read doesn’t work. Now I'm locked out after “exceeding attempts to link” my device for the day. It also lacks a way to manually input credit card details. The UPI PIN buttons are crammed at the bottom, making it hard to use. Plus, where’s the NFC tap-and-pay option? The design feels rushed and unpolished—check Google Pay or PhonePe for how it should be done. Overall, a frustrating and poorly designed app.

I recently switched from the GPay app to the BHIM app mainly to use the UPI Circle feature, which allows my parents to join in on digital payments. However, I feel the UI needs a couple of improvements: 1. The app should prompt for fingerprint authentication as soon as it opens, rather than asking for a code. 2. The UPI code buttons are cramped at the bottom. It would be great if they followed the design approach of GPay or PhonePe for a more user-friendly experience.
