The broadcaster was founded in 1985 and will therefore exist for 35 years in 2020. This makes the broadcaster one of the oldest local broadcasters in the Netherlands. RTV SLOS is in the air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Informative programs are made and sports also play a large part in the programming. There are also music programs with a high hit parade content, including many Dutch but also regional, country and blues get their attention. The broadcaster is also strong with a real Hardrock program that is listened to all over the world.
RTV SLOS is regularly present at events in Steenwijkerland. There, radio is made live on location, such as at major sporting events such as the Klim van Steenwijk, the Cycling Spectacle and the Library Tournament. The Dicky Woodstock festival, the opening of the Blokzijl sailing season and the Waterevent are also part of the list of major location broadcasts.
