"Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Display"
A variety of spectacular fireworks will light up the night sky, including the famous "Shosan-shakudama" fireworks, the story-telling "Tenchijin Fireworks" and "Hanabi Kono Sora no Hana" fireworks synchronized with music, and the ultra-wide "Phoenix" starmine, stretching approximately 2km in length.
While this fireworks display may appear spectacular at first glance, the Nagaoka Festival originated from the "Nagaoka Reconstruction Festival," which was held to commemorate those lost in the Nagaoka air raid on August 1, 1945, and to pray for the reconstruction of Nagaoka. For this reason, the Grand Fireworks Display is held annually on August 2nd and 3rd.
The Nagaoka Festival Fireworks Display is a celebration of the souls of the deceased, prayers for recovery, and peace.
