— WHAT IS A NAME DAY? —
A name day is a traditional celebration where every name is linked to a day of the year. It began in the Christian calendar as a way to honour saints, and grew into a celebration of everyone's name. In many countries it is a second birthday: flowers, sweets, a cake and surprise visits from family and friends.
