Whether you know it or not, you are constantly surrounded by a field of invisible signals that are detectable simply by using your smartphone. Just like harvesting apples in an orchard, Platin’s Signal Harvesting app allows your phone to detect and capture these signals for future use. There’s nothing to learn, and you don’t need to practice. Even tech beginners can easily harvest thanks to Platin’s user-friendly interface.
When you open the app, you will see cell towers, WiFi access points, and Bluetooth beacons nearby that the app collects and measures. In upcoming versions, you will receive a reward in PTNX tokens for your signals. If the signals you harvest play a role in Proof of Location, then you will have the potential to earn even more PTNX.
Platin signal harvesting is devoted to mapping the world of wireless signals as a primary component contributing to verified location proofs (for those who will be requesting such verifications in the future). The app will always be free to operate and will remain ad-free.
We want to assure you that Platin is committed to protecting your privacy, and the signals you harvest are private. This no cost and ad-free application does not collect personal information from your phone and has no interest in your identity or sending you any advertisements. Additionally, you will only be able to see the signals that you harvest yourself on your phone and no one else’s — and they won’t be able to see your harvest data either. Your data is encrypted and stored with a random identifier that has no link back to your phone number or identity.
Why We Do This
This app is an essential part of Platin’s journey towards enabling its Plexus, a proof of location protocol on the blockchain. The signal data you collect is the heart of the system. In this version, we store harvested signals in a database and use it to fine-tune our protocols and consensus models. We are releasing capabilities to use the data, such as geospatial placed digital assets, proof of address, three-factor authentication, and more, some of which run on EOS and Ethereum smart contracts. In the end, the whole system will be fully decentralized and democratized. Read more at http://platin.io/whitepaper.
