...I'm tired of being their beta tester. Early adopter of this device, over hyped - under delivered from day one. I've since moved to Arlo products from Netgear. They're easier and less cost!, with quality web access and a diverse product line. Canary don't sing!!

Just updated my Canary app. I no longer see the home health readings on my home screen. Also lost the ease of seeking help by just emailing. Can not find that anymore. Just frequently asked questions. Wish I had not updated. Keep the older version. It's better.

Latest update has made app erratic. After sticking with Canary for 2+ yrs, it finally got to where it recognized when i was home and when not. BUT THEN last few months it's clueless. App upgrades take 1 step forward & 2 back. Have owned for 6-9 months. Major frustrations now...after getting to be a convinced believer in the product. Why oh why can't there be consistency in the product's working ability.

The system works well and I like the ability to be able to check my residences however don't buy more than one canary unit, or they will penalize you on the free timeline viewing. If you own one unit you'll get 24 hours recorded timeline, but if you buy two units instead of getting 48 hours you'll only get 12 hours, it would be okay and understandable if you got 24 hours but they penalize/ rob the time we paid for. Forcing you to join the membership to view the timeline and the recordings for a longer time frame. But keep in mind the more Canarys the more per month and shared time reduced. 3 Canarys 8 hours free timeline, 4 Canarys 6 hours free timeline. So say you spend $200 for one Canary = 24 hours timeline, 4 Canarys @ $800 = 6 hours timeline. At minimum you should get 24 hours timeline no matter what!

Canary is great, when it works. It'll go weeks with no issues, but then it goes days with issues. The current issue is that it's been taking entirely too long to load video & real time, if at all. Kind is defeats the purpose...
Get your crap together already, would you! How many years do you need?! Constant Location app issues! Does not detect when I get home and when I leave half of the time. Not sure why is this so difficult!!!
We have had Canary system for almost 2 years. As time goes on system issues get worse. More downtimes and more issues. More times just plain not working. Very frustrating. When you depend on an app for home security, it's unsettling to have frequent problems.
It's about time, love the new notification sound, now we have a alarm system. You guys have worked hard, glad you took my advice and came up with a separate notication sound. Changing to a 3+ rating. Another thing that you could do is make a setting that you could also set to keep sending the alarm but make that a option. Just a idea, came home it took 3 hours to show me there?
Canary is awesome, but the app is quite buggy. It has a hard time tracking mine and my wife's location (home vs away). Also, half the time I open the app I just see a black screen. Have to back out and try again.
Too many server problems. I walked in front of a camera 10 min ago. It still hasnt sent me any notification. It. Says its working fine and i can view live so i know there is some connection. I do have a real security system to guard from intruders. Watching movement thru this device is a waste time. Now it doesnt always notify me at all. Acts like nothing is moving in front of it. Long delay when it does. Real garbage. They need to eliminate their server and let us connect directly to phone. Its getting slower. They just did another "fix". A quick notification would be nice. Then i could go to live view. If needed, i could look at recording later. There must be a way to increase your responce time.
The cameras are great. The app is the most buggy and unreliable software I have ever used. Constantly cannot tell if I am home or not. Night mode during the day. I have to manually switch to home to turn off recording. Poor app.
This app crashes and does not work like it suggests. It does not recognize me at home whem i am. Booooo!
Used to be ok, now it has no idea when I'm home and when I'm not.... Thinks I'm there when I'm at work and think I'm at work when I'm at home. Makes the whole thing a very expensive waste of time and money
Hardware and setup is easy. Only 2 issues. 1. The auto detect for home & away is mind numbingly complex and never works properly 2. Having to have a subscription per location makes it really expensive.
We just caught a thieving carer on this device... installed in my disabled elderly mums flat... priceless!!! Downloaded and sent to police
Every update the app gets worse. Half the time the camera is turned off because it can't detect that we have left home, or we continuously get notifications because it doesn't go into night mode when we are home. The WiFi connection hardly ever works, I had to run a hardline (Ethernet) to the camera. The fact that you can only configure and control the camera from a phone app is a major problem as well. I supported this during the Kickstarter campaign... It was great at first, but as time goes on the updates have made a good product into a semi functional or non functional product. I would not recommend this to anyone until they can get their product back to a functional state.
I love the features I love the price and I love the ease of use. I can't wait to try the new upcoming Canary Flex. Since the update canary will no longer recognize when I'm at home or away. Tried everything it still won't work.
Worked great when I bought it about a year ago, now with the constant upgrades things seem to be getting worse. I can barely even log into the app to view anything, just a constant loading screen of death. I haven't seen a notification from this thing in weeks even though it's armed.
I moved to a new home and cannot connect my canary wanted customer service they email me back still no results you can't get in touch with them only through email no phone number this app doesn't help at all for me to reset my canary if you can actually speak to someone maybe this will work
The look and the feel of the app is fantastic and great. Greatly improved since my last review. All stability issues have been resolved. Very good app!
Wow, it wasn't enough that we spent nearly 800 dollars buying 3 of your cameras, but you now cut keeping videos from 24 hours down to 8, so Im forced to buy a subscription? Maybe try being a good and reliable company first before going for the cash grab?
Don't claim to know it all, just usual fixes.... I do know my Canary is perpetually offline now...Haven't found solution, blue pulsing light is entertaining to watch 😒. Worked fine initially, not sure what changed
Doesn't really work - when you can get it to work it is great but really hard to watch live. Almost never works and that is when you need it to work most (and this is over a strong LTE connection)
Simple installation and have been using for 12+ months with no issues. Auto-arm/disarm works perfectly and I get notifications as expected. No experience of the issues mentioned by others and from my perspective it's a great piece of kit.
Does not work at all in the the latest Android O build. Instantly crashes when trying to view live or recorded video. Makes it unusable.
FIX THIS S**T!!!! Keeps switching from Home and Away while I'm at home and location on. I have 4 of them and they used to work great. Need to create a patch to fix the bug. About to go to dealers and tell them not to sell this GARBAGE!!!!

Love the system but now since everyone in my family has a canary in their home. We need the app to be logged in on more than one account at a time so that everyone get alerts for each other homes.
Like other users, the app refuses to detect when I'm home. It's an issue with both Android and iOS apps.
So this is a great concept and a relatively poor execution. I'm only going to talk about the App here, not the actual device. The app is.. finicky. There are some basic UI design choices that I don't understand: 1) why does it take my entire screen, including covering my notification bar (Samsung Galaxy S7)? I would like to see my other notifications, including the current time, while I'm viewing the app. This should be an easy fix, but its there, and its weird. 2) I'm confused why this is designed like an "endless scroll" webpage and not like the standard UI. When I'm in the "timeline" view, if I flick down from the top of the page, it takes me to "Home". In every other Android App ever, a downward flick at the top of the page is "refresh", which this sorely needs, which leads me to... 3) Why can't I refresh the timeline view? It doesn't refresh by itself, ever. I have to exit the app (and I mean actually close it, not just home-key) and restart it to update the timeline. I'm assuming this is an MQTT interface, so this shouldn't be difficult to auto-update... Additionally, and I'm running out of space here, I'm ALWAYS getting "Cannot Connect to Server". Ouch.
Used to work fine but last month's updates completely broke location detection. Probably something to do with background services, it works only if you have the app running in the foreground when you leave / arrive home.
Very poor app cannot delete more than one video at a time period I end up uninstalling and reinstalling just to get rid of recorded videos and timeline. Also even though I paid for membership it still stopped after the 30-day trial and I have nothing to show after the 30-day trial
This product was a waste of money. The first problem was that it would not pair with my phone, or accept the password for my internet. That took about two hours to resolve. The next problem is it constantly goes offline, defeating the entire purpose of having a security system. It stays offline almost half of the time it's on. The third problem is that it doesn't always switch modes when I leave home. I've run errands and it was still saying that I was at home. This is some garbage that needs to be thrown in the garbage, and then go out and buy a REAL security system, instead of this overpriced bs.
Great for indoor security but for using to look out of the window it's good till night time comes then all you see is the lights reflection but it is meant for indoor use around the house not looking outside so 4 stars
Canary is never able to reconnect to the network if it loses connection
Back button seriously broken, and has been for months. Pressing back when viewing a video just hangs the app at a black screen.
So many issues with this app. This was a really bad investment
Can we remove the canary notification sound? It's awful. Let my phone's regular notification tale over!
