TAP implementation is merely a simulation on top of TUN. Multicast packets are not delivered to the android device ! which renders services that require network discovery (e.g. bonjour, google cast) useless. However, if you managed to get TAP running through kernel implementation (root), all services work fine !
My favourite app
The Best no questions asked! And the Customer support is incredible! Other VPN apps should learn from this one!
Nice. Dev was fixing problem within hours. Great client.
Honestly, it's hands down the best OpenVPN client app for Android. This is the only app that allows for multiple scrambling methods, AND Obfsproxy v2 and v3. For a guy like me where the school blocks OpenVPN packets with DPI, this app was definetely worth the $10 (however a timed trial for Obfs in the free version would be nice, to see if it works). The app also supports Socks proxies, and the "official" OpenVPN app doesn't even support it. All of this and more, without root! Sure the app is $10, but 4.7 stars? Loads of features? And it works? If you need to get around firewalls blocking your VPN, this is the one you need.
