The Dear Dad app, is part of "Books for all", a project for inclusion with the aim of publishing a digital version of books in symbols of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (CAA)
The goal of the project is to encourage reading accessible to all children.
Children, alone or helped, can choose between two different ways of reading on the first page of the book:
- modeling allows you to listen to the audio of each symbol either manually at the tap of the single symbol or continuously by listening to the audio of all the symbols automatically.
- the alphabetical reading in which the narrating voice is synchronized to the word automatically.
A boy plays with his dad. The text rhymes, the illustrations evoke the full range of positive emotions, making reading aloud a pleasant moment. Symbolic writing is reduced to the essential, rooted in the daily lexicon. At the tap on the pictures the children will discover the characters, objects and actions that characterize the story.
Texts, games and animations have been studied by the Paideia Foundation to enhance all communication skills (verbal language, gestures, signs and communication with aids and advanced technology) to allow communication not only to children and young people with disabilities and complex communication needs, but also to foreign people at the first approach with the local language and subjects with communication frailty of all ages.
