・ What is discomfort caused by wearing contact lenses?
In Japan, there are about 16 million people who wear contact lenses, and it is estimated that more than 10% of the total population wears contact lenses. However, about half of contact lens wearers experience eye discomfort when wearing contact lenses. This eye discomfort reduces the quality of life and is ultimately the number one cause of abandoning contact lenses.

・ What is a contact diary?
"Contact Diary" is an application that forms the basis of big data collection in contact lens research by the Department of Ophthalmology and Digital Medicine, Juntendo University School of Medicine. It has been developed for the purpose of visualizing the symptoms of eye discomfort caused by wearing contact lenses and analyzing the causes of discomfort.

・ Main functions of contact diary
[1] Recording of contact lens wearing status and symptoms (diary function)
Record daily contact lens wear time. In addition, eye symptoms are measured from a questionnaire on subjective symptoms related to dry eye and hay fever, and measurement of blinking time and redness of the eyes. You can check the recorded wearing time and symptoms at any time from the calendar.

[2] Enlighten the proper use of contact lenses through the app (alert function)
The contact lens wearing time, the number of days until replacement, and the scheduled ophthalmology consultation date are displayed on the home screen, so you can understand the contact lens wearing status. In addition, the alert function will notify you when the proper wearing time of contact lenses has been exceeded or when the contact lens replacement period you have entered has expired.

[3] Visualization of symptoms when wearing contact lenses (scoring function)
Eye symptoms are collected from subjective symptom questionnaires about dry eye and hay fever, blinking time and redness measurement of the eyes, and displayed as moisturizing points and beautiful eye points. The score is displayed as a pie chart so that you can see the condition of your eyes at a glance. In addition, you can check the score for one week and the transition of wearing time in a graph.

The results obtained from this study may be published in medical journals, etc., but privacy is protected because we do not reveal any personal information such as your name.

• Handling of data
If you participate in this research, data about this research, such as information provided by you through the application, will be managed by a number symbolized in a non-personally identifiable format on a cloud server with strict security. Since it is strictly managed by, your personal information will not be leaked to the outside.

-All clinical research conducted with this application has been officially approved after being reviewed by the University Ethics Committee.

-This app was developed exclusively for data collection in clinical research and is not intended to be used for any other purpose. We cannot compensate for any health damage or equipment damage caused by participating in the research.

・ The judgment result by this application is not a doctor's diagnosis, so if you have any symptom of concern, please consult a doctor.

-Since the subjects of this study are limited to smartphone users, there is a possibility that they will be biased by the owner user group.
