Have the store clerk scan the barcode displayed in the Rakuten Point Card tab.

Tell the store clerk which payment method you would like to use, then touch your card to pay.

Ratings and reviews

Purchased many items from their Rakuten market and got around 4000 points. But apparently after a month and a half they all "expired". I wanted to make a big purchase just with my points, but this has left me infuriated. This is very misleading and dishonest. I always used to recommend Rakuten as a good Amazon alternative, but not anymore. You have lost a customer and your reputation.

over time my review score is going down. I lover Rakuten Points and barcode payment, but the UX of this app is terrible and getting worse. it errors a lot and when it doesn't, silly popups take you to webpages when you are trying to switch between paying and earning points, meaning you often have to lose on points as there is a queue of people behind you. recently I am able to get points at only 50% of the stores I want because of some sort of app issue.

Anything from Rakuten is a horrible experience. It’s like their product managers studied everything that makes Amazon seamless and then did the exact opposite. App so bloated it can be a balloon as well. Analytics,...
