One of the better shmups of yesteryear faithfully ported to Android. Touch controls are fine, but this version really shines when propped up vertically on a tablet while using a controller. Not only does it have controller support, but the buttons are remappable. Only thing I'd love to see are more screen controls...the full screen zoom setting is a little blurry looking. It would be great if there were more pixel-perfect and vertical scanline settings.
One of my fave shmups has been blessed with a great port to Android devices! The touchscreen controls are superb, but the biggest plus is the support for bluetooth controllers with the option to redefine the buttons! Gamepad support is criminally overlooked by mobile game developers, so it's great to see such support for them here. My only complaints about this port are the terrible arranged soundtrack (luckily the original soundtrack is also available), and that the onscreen touch controls cannot be turned off when using a bluetooth controller.
One of the three Ray arcade masterpieces. Graphically intensive, be prepared for a hot battery. If you are depressed, try to avoid the endings of this and Raycrisis. They have the most nihilistic, fatalist endings of any series I've ever played. Sad and disheartening, but set in a spectacular universe.
Great to have another classic on the smart phone. This version does seem well implemented also. Please consider bringing more of the Darius games to android too. Many thanks!
Seems like a great port so far. Please add in the option to remove the on-screen buttons if you happen to use a physical controller and I'll bump this up to 5 stars!
The arranged music for stage one almost made me return the game it was so bad. Thankfully it can be switched in the menu from arranged to original. The touchscreen controls are pretty nice combined with auto fire which I heavily suggest of you do not have a controller. Also make sure you play the remix mode to activate the good touch controls. If you select arcade mode the touch control is extremely unresponsive and you'll die quickly. I'm glad Taito decided to go with a reasonable business model and charge one reasonable price for the entire game unlike all my favorite Psycho shooters like Strikers 1945 and Gunbird 2 which are freemium titles that lock out 75% of the game's features to pressure you into spending way more than the game is worth. I won't spend a single penny on those games. I have no problems paying up front for a good game. Rayforce is one of my favorite shooters of all time. Two things that knocked a star off. 1.The game needs to run smoother 2. Sound effects flake out sometimes Not a knock against the game, but the exit screen is still in Japanese.
