About this app

The Light for Night Vision app allows you to use your smartphone as a flashlight of red color light during your session of astronomical observation.

When observing at night with a telescope, you adapt your eyes to the dark environment to perceive a faint celestial object in the field of view of your telescope’s eyepiece. As your eyes become accommodated to night vision, the pupils open widely to collect more light. You may occasionally want to check with a celestial map in the dark, or you may need to illuminate your finders and around to operate the telescope, a camera, and so on. In that situation, the illumination light of a white light flashlight will contract the pupil if it is used. As the result, you will have to wait a short while until the eyes are accommodated to the dark again.

The Light for Night Vision app helps you to keep the ability to see in reduced illumination in the dark by turning the screen on your smartphone into a red light flashlight. The intensity of the red light illumination can be varied brighter or dimmer by swiping up or down on the screen. The brightness setting adjusted is saved for next time use.

IMHO it does what I need. I can't put in my visor above me when parked and writing something, if need more light just lightly touch the screen and move finger up or down. very responsive. easily can see my whole area and what I'm doing. I got out to see how noticeable it was if any lookie lous and couldn't even til only when right up on the window. I give 2 thumbs up. oh, and no bs ads popping up especially while sitting in dark and whole cab goes bright bc of a ad like a different app did.

Great app and just what I need at night when I get out of bed without disturbing the family by using the flashlight. However the time out function should be removed or a settings button to allow for an x amount of time to elapse before shutting off. Also, it would help to include an exit app button. As an android user I use the function to swipe up to get to home screen, but what it ends up doing is blasting a full bright red screen into my face.

i got it only because i have three vixen scopes and i like them. cost more than my car hahaha. the only thing that bothers me is that there is no position in which the controls blend with the background, and there should be!
