About this app

Y!mobile Mail is Y!mobile's official mail app.

Y!mobile email address (@yahoo.ne.jp), MMS/SMS/+ message (*1), Yahoo! It is the definitive edition of the mail application that adopts two display formats that you can choose from.

-Two display formats to choose from depending on the application-

It is a format that allows you to easily exchange messages like a chat, and you can view the flow of exchanges and conversations up to that point, so it is suitable for casual communication with family and friends.

In addition, you can automatically sort emails from addresses other than those registered in the phone book, so you won't miss important emails.

[List type]
In the same format as a normal mailer, it is a display format that allows you to check the emails that have arrived in your inbox or personal folder in chronological order. The filtering function also supports automatic folder sorting.

In addition, since it is possible to switch to conversation type from the mail details screen with one tap, you can immediately check the exchanges up to that point.

The app looks nice and does seem to work. It's just too bad they are like most Japanese companies that have trouble making their products more accessible to foreigners. It's weird because Softbank their parent company offeres their text/email app in other languages.

1) absolutely horrible, bloated and outdated design. Looks like from late 1990s, wasting screen space. 2) difficult to use. 3) weird DNS requests to various yahoo servers that I had to block on my firewall and reported for Pi-hole lists. Telemetry or logs? 4) no fingerprint support. 5) Backups were difficult to turn off and delete afterwards. No clear privacy policy on data. Are you aware that even for Europeans living in Japan, you, the software maker, must comply with EU GDPR policy?

I once contacted customer care from overseas they charged me around 3500 for one call. And softbank wifi is costly with premium prices but always have very less signal.
