After forever getting the B27102 error, the app finally connects to the receiver. Now that it does, I'm able to see what it's functions are. It gives you fairly deep control of the receiver from your phone, but after everything is set up (which I had to do without this app), I don't use it much other than volume control. The interface is wonky, favoring flashy animations over ease of use, but it's still fairly usable. Rating 3 because it was months and months of it not connecting at all, forcing me to bypass what I'm assuming is the app's most useful stage - initial setup.
This app does not connect to my VSX1124 on any of my 5 Android devices. The phone can connect to the built in page in the receiver so there is no connection problem. Same app works fine on my iPad so it is not my network. Support was no help and told me to deal with it. No more Pioneer or Onkyo products for me. I forgot about this issue and recently purchased a pioneer elite receiver, the app worked for few days but now just gives error B27102.
I am extremely disappointed in how the Pioneer Corporation isn't supporting this app. When it works, it's great. But it only works maybe 10% of the time. I will be looking into a new company who supports their product. Possibly going to Marantz or Anthem. I've been a proud owner of Pioneer products for over 15 years. Thanks for making this decision easier for me.
Works some times, but unimpressed that Pioneer doesn't do anything about updating it, even after most comments are negative. I too have to reset my VSX1021 at least once a week to enable app to work. Another change from previous version is, when I initiate the app on Android, it switches the amp on which is not great. If I am using the amp with HMS for instance and activated the app, HMS stops working.
For those experiencing B57113 error this is how i fixed it because it seems sure as hell pioneer won't. Had to power down amp completely, not just standby. Unplugged it for ten seconds pressing on button to completely drain power. Then turned it back on. All presets are kept but the connection is completely reset. Then control app worked again. Time will tell how long for.
I love the Pioneer VSX 1123 receiver I bought a few years ago, but oddly enough the remote has failed and only partially controls the receiver. I've tried contacting Pioneer for the possibility of a replacement, but like others here, I found that Pioneer's after-purchase support doesn't exist. This 'app is a life-saver, giving me access to advanced user features on my Pioneer equipment that is usually only available with the packaged remote control. The interface is easy to use on my phone; I have no connectivity issues and I would argue that this 'app is easier than the original remote itself. My only gripe is that I don't think there is a way to save settings on the 'app. I have to re-configure some settings every time I power up the system. Other than that, I truly enjoy this product and I hope I do not encounter the issues that others have after updates...
