About this game

Oto no Hakoniwa (The Sound Garden) is a creative sound toy where balls falling across the screen play instrument sounds. There is nothing difficult to learn. Just watch, listen, and enjoy how the sounds layer over one another. It is a quiet little garden for a calm moment. Every sound is synthesized inside the app, so it is not borrowed from anywhere. It is your sound, the one you made.

■ Falling balls make the music
Balls tumble down and each one plays a single note where it lands. When many balls sound at their own moments, unexpected and beautiful harmonies appear. You do not have to keep your hands moving. Just watching and listening, it becomes music on its own.

■ 15 instrument sounds
Glass, iron, china, wood, electronic, guitar, bass, piano, flute, koto, drum, taiko, saxophone, trumpet, and shamisen. Hard sounds, soft sounds, Japanese sounds, powerful sounds. The very same layout changes completely just by changing the instrument.

■ 13 scales from around the world
So that any notes you choose will somehow sound in harmony, 13 scales are built in. Bright (major pentatonic / yonanuki), Lively (Ionian major), wistful (minor pentatonic), Japanese (in-scale), Okinawan (Ryukyu scale), Ritsu (gagaku), Chinese (shang mode), Spanish (Phrygian dominant), blues, Miyakobushi, Chinese jiao mode, Hungarian minor, and Bhairavi (North India). Travel across the sounds of the world with a single fingertip.

■ 9 ambient sounds
Rain, wind chime, reverb, waves, insects, small birds, campfire, frogs, and a flowing stream. Lay a gentle background under the instrument sounds. It makes a pleasant air for before sleep or when you want to focus.

■ Build freely in Make mode
Beyond simply enjoying the sound in Play mode, switch to Make mode to arrange spouts, pegs, and more yourself, and build your own sound garden. Change the path the balls fall along, and the way it sounds changes too.

■ The sounds you make are yours to use
All sounds in this app are synthesized inside the app, with no external sample sources. Because of this, the audio you record or export may be provided under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) license. Use it in event screenings, background music, or commercial works. We ask only two things: credit it as "介護と支援の相談どころ　そよぎ", and if you remix and distribute it, share it under the same license. The sound you make can become a seed for someone else's creation.

■ Designed for peace of mind
No ads are shown. No account is required. What you do and your settings are stored only on your device and nothing is ever sent anywhere. The app works fully offline, so it works even where there is no connection.
