Clearly abandonware. Used to work -- no longer does. Not sure why, probably because no media permission in the app manifest. I have /sdcard and /extSdCard mountpoints, have full root, etc. but it says the filesize is 0 always and no file is actually generated anywhere on my device. Bummer.. I used to use this app a lot.

Able to track Yahoo video protocol Awesome, was able to track the Yahoo finance video protocol (RTSP), copy log to computer, then inspect it. They use different video format for iPhone, Android, and desktop so needed to track a problem down. My laptop WiFi card (Intel 4965AGN) does not support promiscuous mode so could not use that. Desktop is wired and could not see phone packets.

Richard Does not work on Nexus 9 with Andorid 5.0.1 (Android version was OTA updated on start-up) App spits a PIE error. I suspect I will need to be a patient grasshopper. Hopefully there will be a version compiled to work with PIE enabled versions of Android or an install package that detects the Android version and deploys the appropriate PIE versus NON-PIE binary. zip to disable PIE does not install/work on my platform, which is just a workaround in any event.

William no offense but if you don't know what shark is you probably will never figure it out. So don't give bad reviews for your obvious ignorance.

Works as advertised on Android 4.4.4 and below, however you're out of luck on 5.x Lollipop devices due to changes in Android security (specifically PIE). As this app hasn't been updated since 2010, I don't expect a fix for this. SO, if you're running anything below 5.x Lollipop on a rooted device and are familiar with tcpdump, go for it. If you have a newer device or have upgraded to Lollipop, join me in finding an alternative.

Awesome App This is awesome, any chance you could also write this for the iOS ;-) Very helpful tool for sniffing 3G and and understand mobile networks better. it gets 9/10 because although the tool work well and functional it could have a slightly nicer UI, although thats not very important compared to functionality.

Incompatible with chainfire SuperSU The current version is apparently incompatible with the version of busybox associated with recent releases of SuperSU. Tested on Nexus5. Busybox commands not found on dump stop.
Spontaneous reboot on 'stop' CM7 Defy While it is nice to be able to run TCPDump without needing to hit the command line, I'm not sure the development effort warrants ads. More importantly, spontaneously reboots my Defy running CM7 beta 5.1 by Quarx when I 'stop' collection. Occurs on both Shark and Shark Native.
Do not download Shark seems to think that it is OK to hijack your browser to open ads on your phone and to open the Google App store to specific games in an effort to lure you to install them. This is all done automatically and without your permission upon opening the Shark application.
Doesn't work Only sniffs your own packets over 3g,and then you can't open them even with shark reader. Totally useless on WiFi too. Uninstalled
Good start! Ui 20% finished (it's about your reader). Buggy child management. Nasty killall. Use pid. Split program into two packages – why?
Works as it should It took me a while to realize it was not working for me because I didn't have tcpdump installed. Maybe you could include a link on a precompiled tcpdump for Android in the description?
Abandoned project. Doen't work on 5.0 due that can write on SD Card (default location for the pcap file) options do nothing. Use tcpdump-arm instead
Root error Not working, App shuts upon start with a root error
Great app But needs to be updated to stop PIE errors on v5.x android. Currently unusable.
Plain, but Extremely Useful It is a useful app and works very well. The UI is pretty plain and does not fit in with the OS. If it could function like Wireshark (color - coding, etc,) but look more like an official part of Android, it would be perfect.
Cool app, but only sniffs local traffic. Need a special driver to put eth0 in promiscuous mode which currently doesnt exist.
Yo tengo root Haha I have no idea what this is... I guess it works. Keep up the good work developer!
Needs Root If you're complaining in the reviews section, be aware that this application needs root access. This could perhaps solve many of your problems.
excellent Works well, if you install network spoofer as well you can direct all traffic through your phone using arp spoofing
Pretty great but please consider a pay version with no ads. Your mobclix ad provider litters my log. Thanks
Nice but... It would be better if there was a paid version, the ads are causing noise in the capture.
Would very much like to choose wifi interface and capture wifi data. Handheld back track!
My faveroite sniffer now portable? I must be dreaming. App runs like a dream. 10/10 all the way!
Not working with cm12(android 5.0.2) nexus 4 Getting "error: only possible independent executable (PIF) are supported. Please fix this.
Awful Too bad, could have been decent. Good idea, bad execution.
No ads, please. I'm going to second Eli's request. Mobclix ruins my tests. Please consider a version without ads.
Awesome app! Thanks for the work on this it helped me troubleshoot a VPN problem.
Not working on Samsung G3 - CyanogenMod 11 I can start a capture and stop the capture but if I try to read the packets with packet reader it just tells me there is no pcap file found. I tried a restart but there is no way to configure file location. Doesn't work as intended.
Used since 2010... Still a good TCPIP packet capture app, but my new #1 is Bitshark
Its not working with HTC 616 I have problem to work up with shark for root,, when i open the shark.. getting error message like: shark error: can't execute root startup sequence. do you have root? Can any one help me out..
Ads are unprofessional, pcap stops once you navigate away from the app screen... kinda useless
No Note compability? Worked perfectly on my HTC Desire, but causes soft reboot on my Samsung Galaxy Note. Rooted stock ROM.
Unstable. It restarts the phone when I want to stop the capturing. ICS on galaxy s ii
Log file Unable to save log file - it removes it from SD card as soon as application is killed
God awful ads Pop-up ads that hijack your screen and lead to shady "you've won" sites that use the phone buzzer. Really annoying.
Full of adds Remove the ads or provide a pay version without ads. At this point the app is useless.
If u have no clue what wireshark is/does, do not download! This app is great!!
Empty file error Everytime I try opening the capture file I get the empty file error even though the file size is more than 4KB
Not working on 4.4.2 Error cannot link executable : could not load library "libssl.so" needed by tcpdump. e_machine: 3
