About this app

Colorize Images is an automatic Machine Learning based service to colorize black and white, grayscale or nightvision photos .

Please note: If you have any questions or issues, send me a debug message by using the Report Bug feature in the app. The message includes information to help in solving the issues. Thank you!

Black and White images do not contain any clues about the correct colors. The colorization of the photos is determined by the training of the Machine Learning model, but the model does not know the context of the photos. The selected colors are not historically accurate and not necessarily correct.

The black & white photos for the colorization can be selected from the gallery, or they can be shared from the other applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Chrome or Google Photos. The colorized result images can be shared to the other applications, or saved into the gallery.

The app can be used for free by watching Ads. Subscribing the app allows unlimited number of colorizations without interruptions during the subscription period.

The service uses GPU servers to provide the colorization functionality. This means that the source images are sent to a remote location over the network, colorized there and the colorized images are then received back to the device.

For the best result, the source image is recommended to have:

• good quality
• good contrast
• good focus
• and correct orientation

The images not having all these properties may work fine, but some preprocessing (like contrast correction or sharpening) usually improves the result.

Based on DeOldify project.

Just okay. Had a profile picture of my father from the 1940s standing near the SF Bay, mostly sky and water background. The water was psychedelic, blue, gray and neon green. His light colored suit was splotchy in places. Skin tone a bit oversaturated. Better than nothing. I tried one, dad with his mother in a photo booth. Again oversaturated but close enough for rock and roll. For the price of watching a few ads I can't complain. By definition the AI should improve in time.

You can adjust the saturation in the tuning menu (bottom right corner button).

No this app doesn't save my colorized images to the files I want anymore. I can't find my colorized images. That was happening like that for over a week or so. Make it so it is saved under the label "colorized images" again. UPDATE: this app works on my phone a long time before I was writing this update. Thanks for finding a way, but I still have a problem with this app yet: it has too many ads.

Thank you for the update! I have to cover the costs of the colorization servers for the free users too by displaying ads. Please note, that the image is colorized at the same time as the ad is displayed, so it doesn't usually cause additional delays. Subscribers can still get results a bit faster because they have priority access to the servers.

Wow!! I was super sceptical when I saw this app, because I often painstakingly colorize photos in photoshop. I thought there was no way a machine learning app could do this. Well, I was wrong. You have to mess around with the settings a bit (I recommend lower render setting numbers for portraits of one or two people, and higher for groups), but once you figure it out you can get amazing results. So happy I found this app, bought the lifetime access. Thank you developers!
