Time to declutter You've got the feature set. Please now focus on simplifying the ui. It's become way too cluttered and has way too much small print and truncation. Imagine you are building a version for the visually impaired. That might get you in the frame of mind to address what people are complaining about so much. I'm a paid user of many years, by the way. The feature set is what has kept me around in spite of increased frustration with how the functions I use most go deeper and deeper in the complex ui.
Love the phone version. And loving the tablet version. The UI is not the prettiest any maybe confusing at first. And it takes some digging in the menus to set up properly. It's more complicated to use than other podcast players but once you know how to use it, it works better than anything else available. It can't be beat. The people complaining obviously haven't figured out how to use it yet. It's worked flawless for me for over 4 years on several different devices. I have about 300 feeds organized in catagories. Can play videos in external players, with the screen off, bluetooth stream, etc. I've bought 2 other podcast players that look prettier but do not have as much functionality. For video podcasts I use an external feature rich player such as mxplayer or viral player that can float in the background.
I've been using downcast on the ipad for the last couple years. Now I have an android tablet with reasonably good sound, I wanted to see if I could switch to android for podcasts. Beyondpod largely delivers a positive experience, with one important ommission. I'm watching a video podcast. But I want to do something else on tablet. Ideally I'd like to minimise beyondpod and hear the audio continue in the background. This is what downcast does. Beyondpod does not. Would be even better to have a window mode with the video playing while you are doing other things on tablet. Beyondpod also has problems with hd video podcasts. If I play one, pause it, turn of screen, come back later and resume, the video is choppy. I have to restart the podcast to get things going again. As an example, the twit hd podcasts exhibit this problem. Also, no option to change volume when playing a video podcast. How about an on screen control ? So overall, good, but lots of room for improvement. I'd gladly pay extra.
works great change the rewind button icon it's shaped like track skip when it's actually a rewind 10sec. almost deleted the ap because I didn't think it had that feature.
Phone version is better The latest version of Android requires an update to the SD storage location. The Google play version of the app hadn't been updated, but the BETA worked. then it updated in the play store, but got confused and despite being set for the correct Kit Kat folder thinks it can't save there anymore. I was planning on reinstalling, but I realized how much better the phone version is. The mobile version is great, just skip the tablet version...
Outstanding! I love this podcast catcher and player. It's easy to use and easy to setup the way you want it to work. I use it both on the phone and my tablet.
* Updated to support the official release of Chromecast SDK.
* On some devices Android 4.4 KitKat removes write access for apps to the external SD card. In this version we have added a way to move the download folder, more information can be found at
