Review from Chipper Xavier
This app no longer works. I have the Samsung Galaxy S7, and the vibration alerts are constant, even after enabling Mute. The app is now useless to me.
September 16, 2017Thanks for feedback. Did you check settings for do not disturb mode on your Galaxy S7 and check what notifications marked as priority (that could be a reason of vibration).
Thank you for this app, it does exactly what it says it does! It mutes all sound (including media), EXCEPT alarms will still work. When you press the Mute toghle button again, your various sound levels go back to exactly how you had them set before. You can tell if your phone is muted by looking at the notification icons at the top of your screen, there will be a volume symbol with a line through it. If you want a color indicator to see whether Mute is on or off, you can use the widget instead. If you want certain apps to be able to notify you but the phone is silent, use Do Not Disturb instead of Mute and make those apps you want priority notification apps. If certain apps still have sound despite being Mute being on, it is probably because you're running Android 8+ and you need to check the various layers of priority apps. It is not the fault of this app. Peace! :)
Great App... used it with BxActions to remap the Bixby button (Galaxy S8) to this app. Works great. When I push button, it Mutes and when I push again, it goes to whatever sound setting it had (vibrate or ring). However, what would be more useful is an app (not Widget) that toggles between vibrate and sound. The vibrate mode is considered a subset of mute. All people in my organization put the phones on vibrate (not mute) when in meetings. I searched and searched but could not find an app that performed this function. Only Widgets. The problem with Widgets is that they cannot be used by utilities that seek to remap functions.
Great app, I use it all of the time, but it has one issue with the widget I cannot resolve. When I use the widget on the home screen it will work once or twice and then will no longer function. I find that the widget fails after the phone is woken up from sleep. If I go directly to the app it will work fine and toggle the mute on and off as expected.. I would like to use the widget as it indicates red or green to show muted or not muted. I'm running Android M 6.0.1 with Nova Launcher Prime. I keep thinking the widget issue has something to do with compatibility and Nova Launcher. I have tried re-installing Mute, re-installing Nova and done a factory reset on my phone, but I continue to have the same issue with the widget. Anyway thanks for the nice Mute app! For the most part it works great. Maybe someday the small issue with the widget will get resolved.
it works every now and then but often it just opens the app asking for allowances and doesn't actually mute anything. It would also be nice to tap once to mute and tap again to restore all sounds to the phone. Right now I have to do it all manually. Makes the app pretty pointless but with potential of being useful
It makes a sound when it un-mutes. So you cant confidently just press it for mute unless you remember the last setting you used... it might do exactly the opposite of what you want. The widget shows whether it's on or off, but I cant use the widget where I need. It needs to either mute only, not un-mute, or un-mute silently.
Ok, I get the idea and for the purpose that it was intended. It's really good. But what I wish It could do is mute Every sound. Because I go to a school were bullies WOULD UNPLUG MY EAR-BUDS AND I WOULD ALWAYS FORGET TO TURN DOWN THE PHONE VOLUME AND YOU WOULD HEAR "MY NAME IS NO! MY SIGN IS NO!" AND THIS HAPPENS TO ME DAILY
App size dramatically reduced, save memory on your phone. Works with Nougat.
