OK but If GPS is initially off when you run this app, it won't find the location/grid # if you then turn GPS on. However, if you then use another GPS using app, e.g. Google or OS Maps, to initially get your location from GPS, on switching back it works fine. But if you then run it again with GPS disabled you will have to repeat the above trick using another GPS using app to kick it into gear. Once that is done it will work fine as long as the GPS is enabled when it is run. It does the same on both my XOOM and my Galaxy SII.
Useful map reading app. Great app for double checking that you are where you think you are if your map reading skills aren't the best.
JacktheLurcher Very nice little app. Gives an accurate 6 figure grid ref. Just the sort of app you need if you're a bit unsure of your nav skills and need to confirm your location. There are some complaints about accuracy, but with a 6 figure ref it's more than accurate enough to use in conjunction with an OS map.. Note to developer, if you could get the location out as a variable to drop into a SMS, (like you can with %TIME to insert the current time), that would be great, and I'd pay for that.
Unreliable Often fails to provide a reading and when it does is sometimes innacurate. An app like this has to be 100% reliable or it is just junk - a problem with too many Android apps in my experience.
Simple and effective Using on Samsung Galaxy S3. I especially like the minimalist app permissions and that it is not impacted by being out of range of phone signal. This is great for confirming location on OS map to the accuracy I need (I am seeing the 100m west feature but now I know about it I can always add 1 and know the area I am in)
Spot on Installed quickly with no problems. Quickly displays grid reference to ten digits with good accuracy. Excellent.
Now displays the accuracy of the reading at the bottom of the screen.
Convert UK grid references to Google Map location and find your current grid ref
