About this app

Stravomatic starts (and helps you remember to stop) Strava rides and runs when it detects you are running or bicycling, and you forgot to start it.

The application is a paid app because I hate the idea of inflicting ads on its users.

No more missing traces from your Strava Activity feed!

It uses the accelerometer instead of GPS to avoid draining the battery, and to distinguish between running and cycling.

The detection parameters, and the various states of sleep that the phone can be in, will delay the activity start and your activity may be shortened by a few seconds to a few minutes at the start, depending on the settings you choose.

A few settings are required for Stravomatic to work as best as possible :

- For Stravomatic and Strava to work correctly without user interaction, it is best to exempt both of them from battery optimizations.

- For Strava to start correctly with the phone in standby mode, you have to allow background GPS access to the Strava apps (this is often done in Energy savings settings).

- On Android 10, applications are restricted from starting activities in the background, unless they have the Screen Overlay permission. This does not make a lot of sense, but this is the reason why Stravomatic asks you for that permission.

- MIUI (Xiaomi) users: For Stravomatic to be able to restart automatically on boot, you have to white-list it in the MIUI Security application.

not sure what to think of it. first time i tested it was for a commute ride, so maybe that was to short with a big start delay. now it's down to 50% and it says that strava was started but there was no activity recorded. my commute is only 2k but so far only 1/4 attempts were recorded. Not sure if its me and my phone but strava app works by itself.

Hi, It could be due to your phone's energy savings settings; I see you have a Xiaomi as I do. Can you check https://www.colino.net/wordpress/en/stravomatic-an-app-to-start-strava-automatically/ to see which settings change! Hope this helps, Colin

Stravomatic is a wonderful tool to streamline regular use of Strava. I can't imagine using Strava without it! I've been using it almost daily for over a year, and although I've had a few quirks now and then (usually related to an Android or Strava update), Colin has always been quick to respond and help resolve the issue.

Used to work as ir should, perfectly reliable, but for the past two to three months it doesn't. I reinstalled it and it did start a bike trip, but it didn't stop it and hasn't started since. The app is locked and the system does not freeze it, at least as far as I know. I'd love to be able to use it again, so that I could put 5 stars.

Hi, I suppose you tried rebooting your phone and it didn't help. Something that helped a few users facing the same problem as you was to clean Strava's application cache (like this : https://www.androidcentral.com/how-and-when-clear-app-cache-or-data-android) Hope this helps!
