Charge more than stated The app is okay but used to be less costly on the iPhone... and they only charged one fee -- not an annual subscription. why do they like iPhone users more? No clue... but this is a bait and switch. They tell you it's one price but when you go to fill out the form for payment it costs more. I cancelled the transaction.
Becoming less reliable over time. I was impressed with this app when I subscribed, but I guess it is easier to impress with a weather app in the summer. Lately the weather alerts pretty much alert me to what was happening half an hour ago our, like the prediction for the next hour, bear little relation to the actual local weather. An hourly prediction that changes dramatically every ten minutes is of little or no use, except to indicate that weather is changeable.
Intriguing app. Sleek UI. Too bad there are already so many good enough free weather apps out there that offer widget function. This one particularly asks you to subscribe to annual payment in order to have a 2 week free trial for their widget. Why would I want to commit to pay before even knowing if the widgets are any good? Subscription based payments are also not something I prefer. I'd jump on this if they offer a fixed price like they do with iOS.
Great app with easy weather understanding The start page always comes up quickly and with accurate weather. I've found the display incredibly easy to understand what will happen over the next 24 hours, and the next week . The maps are pretty interesting too, but I barely use them. I did decide to subscribe for $2 a year just to support them. I do with there were a 1x1 widget option, and when I emailed them they said they'll look into it. I appreciate the quick response.
They got my money but not my business. Dark Sky thinks my location is Carbon, Iowa, but I am in Washington State. I really wanted to like this app, because it sounds like a great idea, but even when it correctly locates me the temperature is off by around 20 degrees. I've had my phone for about a month and also this app. So I guess I've waited too long to get my money back. I will just delete it. Best of luck out there!!
So much wasted potential... The instantaneous weather notifications are where it's at with this app. They are useful, accurate, and precise. However, the interface is very disappointing: just a narrow vertical timeline bar with low-res colors indicating temperatures/rainfall probabilities/etc.--but no numerical scale! I was excited to get the app, because I'd been using the developers' previous website (forecast.io) and loved the level of detailed multimodel information they presented in concise line charts--but there's nothing here.
