If you can think of it, Tasker can probably do it for you!
Note: root is NOT (I repeat NOT) required for majority of the functions. However, a few of the actions (like the Airplane Mode action and the Mobile Data action on some devices) require root. This is because of Android security policies that developers cannot work around.

If you set it up to do so, Tasker can automatically backup your files to a specific folder on the device, SD card, USB key or even Google Drive! This is useful if you want to keep your files safe even if you lose your phone.

Ratings and reviews

For at least 5 years now (3 phones so far), Tasker has been by my side. It's one of the top reasons why I'm using Android phones. Equally important to the myriad of things it allows me to do without rooting my phone; is the ongoing support and improvement on it. I can count the number of times I contacted the dev in 1 hand for an issue. And each and every time, the support was prompt, responsive, and of course, resolved my issue. There is a learning curve. But even that has been addressed now.

Fantastic support from the developer, who responded (with working and helpful instructions) within 24-hours multiple times. The app itself is complicated, with a steep learning curve, but it does some pretty impressive things. I'd suggest searching up a lot of tutorials. And, if it still doesn't work, contact support. It's great!

My review is double edged. I stand by my original review that the app, though very functional and very powerful, is missing that 'thing' that makes it accessible to all. Even trying to accomplish minor tasks can be very confusing. It's akin to Linux to me, great for those that can afford the time to learn but for many, it requires too much work. With that said, the person who develops and maintains this software is beyond amazing. Helps at the drop of a dime and stays to get it working.
