If you can think of it, Tasker can probably do it for you!
Note: root is NOT (I repeat NOT) required for majority of the functions. However, a few of the actions (like the Airplane Mode action and the Mobile Data action on some devices) require root. This is because of Android security policies that developers cannot work around.

If you set it up to do so, Tasker can automatically backup your files to a specific folder on the device, SD card, USB key or even Google Drive! This is useful if you want to keep your files safe even if you lose your phone.

It's not possible to fix problems reported via Play Store Comments so please use the "Report Issue To Developer" option in the app > Menu to do so.

Note 1: Tasker uses the BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN permission in order to provide the System Lock functionality

Ratings and reviews

Fantastic app that I've used for a long time. The support provided is exceptional. While you would think that an application that automated things using your phone might involve a computer science degree, Tasker does not. It allows you to "follow along" and with a bit of work there is success in just about anything you can imagine. And when you get stuck, there are lots of online resources available to help. The developer is approachable as well. I'm very happy I purchased it long ago.

This is a fine app. Only trouble is that Android (Google) is doing everything in its power to prevent customizations to what THEY want you to do. Case in point: trying to get it so my phone switches to vibrate mode when I get to work. Worked fine until the latest Android update, now when I arrive @ work Tasker says the task is active but my phone isn't in vibrate mode. UPDATE TO RESPOND TO DEV: No error msgs. Task shows active but phone just not in vibrate mode. Manual runs don't work either.

Would have given this a 5, except for the hotspot notification issue. Actually on my Samsung Galaxy S22, Tasker is able to turn on and off hotspot with no issues. When my android deck connects via Bluetooth, my hotspot turns on, and when I disconnect, it turns off - almost perfectly. The problem is that Tasker pops up an annoying message that it doesn't work for managing Wifi. To work around this, I turned off notifications from Tasker. 4 star apps give meaningless notifications, 5 star do not.
