I'm a sixtysomething who went from 24/7 sitting to walking briskly about four miles every morning. I do much better playing music set to my pace, but I've had trouble getting that set up on my Amazon Fire phone without cellphone service. I downloaded a bunch of Amazon Prime music but getting a playlist set up has been like taking a math class. I've tried to sideload a number of bpm-based apps but most won't work on my Fire phone. This morning I walked the first time with DJRun and WOW! Not only did it work fantastically and flawlessly, I didn't even have to load the jerky Amazon Prime Music app, which heats up and eats up so much of my phone. I just started up DJRun and Endomondo, and both apps worked together wonderfully. The best part is, I can download a ton of music I've never heard before and DJRun finds new work for me that fits with my pace. If I don't like something, I can rapidly skip past it and get a new song without breaking my stride. Combined with Amazon Prime, DJRun is a great music discovery and curation tool. (Can't seem to buy DJRun Pro, though.) If you are an Amazon Prime user, get this!
Definitely makes running easier. Update: reduced the rating because the app always forgets I have the pro license. Reactivating via the menu option for it and restarting to get features I've paid for gets tired fast! You do need a decent collection of music for it to work but when you do it makes a big difference for me because I tend to alternate between walking, jogging and sprinting. Takes about a second to switch to the new stride rate though I haven't tried the quicker reacting setting.
Very helpful app I got this app very many months ago, and I've been using it for my walking & jogging sessions, and I must say, it's very accurate so far for any tracks it selects. It was a bit irritating at first when my bluetooth headset controls wouldn't work so changing a track is a long process, but today I decided to try the controls again seeing as the developer upgraded the app, and what do you know....they work! Being able to disable playing power of 2, 4 etc bpm songs is also a welcome addition. Buying the pro version was definitely worth the money as well.
Bleh The true redeeming feature is "dynamic tempo" which needs to be purchased via the PRO version. The rest of the app isn't really too useful unless you can keep your running pace consistent; otherwise the song will change the instant you stop for a breather. The concept is there for sure, but the delivery is kinda poor.
Great app, buy the pro first Before you let it evaluate your music. The app does this reasonably well, but the online database is better. The 2.0 version does have some minor bugs but I am very impressed with this app. Well worth the money.
Problems It's great, but there is one huge flaw in this app. Every once in a while this app will "lose" all the songs on the SD card and no matter what you do you can't get them back unless you clear the settings and relaunch search. If you catch this before you go to sleep it's no problem because you can search while you sleep, but you can't enjoy this app if you find out right before your workout. This problem is way too big and happens too often for me to give it above three stars.
