The East Frisian State Museum in Emden has combined modern technology with historical research through the OLmE app, creating a way to bring the history and stories of Emden and East Frisia to life right here on the ground. Now you can spontaneously, independently and at any time take (interactive) guided tours or walks to places where history actually unfolded, and in doing so get to know fascinating figures who helped shape that history and made a difference. Historical photographs and fascinating background information bring past eras to life.

ZICKZACK – Emden’s Brick Expressionism 100 Years Ago

Dark clinker bricks, sharp edges, shimmering surfaces and plenty of zigzag patterns – discover Brick Expressionism in Emden, visit selected buildings and get to know this era of upheaval better. The content of the OLmE app is provided by the East Frisian State Museum in Emden. As one of the most important museums in north-west Germany, the museum preserves and promotes the cultural and regional history of East Frisia. The app extends the museum experience into the urban environment and invites users to discover Emden from a new historical perspective.
