About this app

***** Important Update for Magic Canon ViewFinder app ******

1. WE HAVE REWORKED THE APP. We were aware that older Android updates have caused issues with saving still images in the app. We are sorry and we want you to know – this is fixed now.
We are rebuilding the app from the ground up to ensure full compatibility with the latest Android versions.

2. TEST THE NEW APP. The new app has less features than it used to have, but we are working to bring them back.

We especially need your confirmation that image capture is working reliably on your device. If saving photos works for you now, please let us know in a review or feedback — it helps us enormously.

3. WHAT FEATURES NEXT? The app currently includes live camera preview, frame guides, and image capture. Many more features are on the way. If there is a feature from the current version that you rely on and would like to see prioritized, please tell us in your feedback. Your input directly shapes what we build next.

Thank you for your patience and loyalty.

==============================

• For a cinematographer: looking for an angle and view in your next shoot?
• For a director: creating your next storyboard?
• For a photographer: scouting for a shoot location?
• For a camera man: want to see your next shot framing without the camera in your hands?

Magic ViewFinder presents you a precise framing preview for the real camera/lens combination you will be shooting with, right where you stand with your phone/tablet. It simulates the framing of any Canon camera or lens and helps thousands of professionals in filmmaking or photography at the preproduction.

PLEASE READ: this app does not turn your smartphone into an external monitor, but operates as a stand-alone directors viewfinder.

If you have any issues please email us for a quick support: dev@kadru.net

The app is a digital director's viewfinder -- it helps you see the exact field of view for your future shot. Select the camera from the menu and rotate the wheel to select the focal length of the lens.

The app won't save the photos. Today I installed and took almost 10 photos with varying focal lengths to use for a storyboard of a project and then I found that the photos are nowhere to be found. I did several tests and the photos don't get save anywhere. When I take a photo a message appears that says "processing" and it never ends. I try to take more photos but the same happens.

This app is good for around 24mm and longer (35mm equivilents). Even though my S25 Ultra has a 13mm lens/camera, the app does not use it. Instead it uses the 23mm main camera and shows dead space (padding) around the 23mm image. So it has limited viability for landscape photographers or photographers using wide angle lenses shorter than your main camera lens field of view. Apart from that important missing feature it works okay.

Very nice app. I entered my camera sensor size, and the view I see at any final length matches very close to what I get on the camera. I use the app to quickly preview a potential shot and to determine depth of field. To get DOF, you just put in focal length, f-stop, and focus point and it shows the DOF. Works great!

What’s new

Still image saving is now fully fixed. On top of that, we've packed in a new set of tools:

• Customizable focal length barrel with index marks
• Full in-device camera control: exposure, focus, flash, white balance
• Tap-to-focus with visual feedback

Thank you for your support — more features are on the way!
