The foundation piles are built in suit from A to K. You can use the middle 10 piles to hold the cards temporarily while you build up the cards in the foundation piles.
You may only move one card at a time, and you can only move a card to another pile if it is one lower and in the same suit. If you cannot make a move you can turn over a new card by clicking on the facedown deck in the top left.
It's game over if you have used all the stock cards and cannot put all the cards on the foundation.
The scoring can be expressed in the formula Score=X(X-1),X represents the number of balls grouped together. For example an elimination of 16 balls will result in 240 points (240=16(16-1)).
When there are no more like-colored bubbles adjacent to each other, the game ends.
The aim is to build sequences from king to ace in suit on the tableau, and remove them to the foundations.
Cards can be stacked by rank, but only sequences in suit can be moved.
New cards can be dealt onto the ten piles from the stock when required.
Tap menu to show deal button.
According to a popular story, the game was invented by a French aristocrat in the 17th century, when incarcerated in the Bastille, explaining the game's less common name Solo Noble. John D. Beasley (author of The Ins & Outs of Peg Solitaire) has extensively searched for evidence to support this, and has found it lacking. The first reference to this story appeared in 1810, more than a hundred years after the alleged event. He believes that the colorful tale is fiction, yet it persists. In other sources, the invention of the game is attributed to the Native Americans—there is also no evidence to support this.
The first evidence of the game can be traced back to the court of Louis XIV, and the specific date of 1697, with an engraving made that year by Claude Auguste Berey of Anne de Rohan-Chabot, Princess of Soubise, with the puzzle by her side. Several works of art from that time show peg solitaire boards, demonstrating that the game was highly fashionable.
The standard game fills the entire board with pegs except for the central hole. The objective is, making valid moves, to empty the entire board except for a solitary peg in the central hole.
