About this app

Muzei is a live wallpaper that gently refreshes your home screen each day with famous works of art. It also recedes into the background, blurring and dimming artwork to keep your icons and widgets in the spotlight. Simply double touch the wallpaper or open the Muzei app to enjoy and explore the artwork in its full glory.

Alternatively, you can choose your favorite photos from your own gallery or other apps to use on your home screen. To keep your wallpaper fresh, Muzei will rotate through your favorite photos every few hours.

Finally, Muzei is developer-friendly. All the code is available at http://code.muzei.co and Muzei even offers a simple API that allows you to build your own wallpaper source. For API details, visit http://api.muzei.co.

If you use a third party Legacy Source, you must disable Battery Optimizations on that app to allow it to continue to load artwork. See https://medium.com/muzei/muzei-3-0-and-legacy-sources-8261979e2264 for more details.

Muzei now includes a watch face for Android Wear, so you can see your latest wallpaper right on your wrist!

Made by Roman Nurik and Ian Lake, along with contributions from many in the Android community. Muzei is a transliteration of the Russian word музей, which means “museum.”

Featured artwork in Muzei is curated daily by our small staff and made possible thanks to WikiArt.org and its contributors.

Pretty cool, I like it. Also I haven't noticed a battery consumption increase. 👍 Suggestion: 2 working modes; > The normal when images are shuffled when connected to WiFi. > Alternative mode when no WiFi (or not specific WiFi) is connected to, in this mode specific images are set (currently the pic is random when WiFi gets disconnected).

Tis nice. The only complaint I have is I wish it had a way to set the pics for a single screen and center focuses. I only use one screen on the phone so images tend to get streched out too wide or tall to show pages that don't get used so you can't actually see the pic. Other than that it's nice to have changing pics and see new stuff in the background.

Muzei always centers the image in the space the launcher provides, but some launchers tell Muzei a wider size than one screen for some reason. Certain third party launchers, such as Nova Launcher or Action Launcher, have an option to disable wallpaper scrolling, which should always center the image even with one screen.

I'm enjoying the app, and it works for the most part. The only thing that's kind of a downfall is that the scrolling lags/jumps sometimes, particularly when the phone has just turned on from lock screen. (New phone btw, so not CPU issue.) Unless I wait for a couple of seconds, if I scroll from one panel to the next, the background doesn't scroll with the icons, then jumps to the next position. There's also a jump sometimes when I scroll back to the home/main panel, a little glitch as it orients. Other than the scrolling glitches, nice app.

What's new

- Muzei now automatically swaps between a bottom navigation when in portrait and a navigation rail alongside the left side of the screen when in landscape
- Fixed a regression with the Tasker integration that was introduced in Muzei 3.4.4
- Fixed a number of crash issues in previous Muzei 3.4.5 builds, particularly on Android 4.4 devices

Note that live wallpaper apps crash on Android 12 Beta 1 due to https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/188636390 - please update to Android 12 Beta 2.
