About this app

Muzei is a live wallpaper that gently refreshes your home screen each day with famous works of art. It also recedes into the background, blurring and dimming artwork to keep your icons and widgets in the spotlight. Simply double touch the wallpaper or open the Muzei app to enjoy and explore the artwork in its full glory.

Alternatively, you can choose your favorite photos from your own gallery or other apps to use on your home screen. To keep your wallpaper fresh, Muzei will rotate through your favorite photos every few hours.

Finally, Muzei is developer-friendly. All the code is available at http://code.muzei.co and Muzei even offers a simple API that allows you to build your own wallpaper source. For API details, visit http://api.muzei.co.

If you use a third party Legacy Source, you must disable Battery Optimizations on that app to allow it to continue to load artwork. See https://medium.com/muzei/muzei-3-0-and-legacy-sources-8261979e2264 for more details.

I really like having a different peace of great art each day. But it breaks my Pixel 4 after using it a while, basically, the launcher, the home and the apps menu disappears, I can no longer use the home button, the back button or the recents button. It is only possible to open apps by tapping on notifications. Now I just uninstalled the app, rebooted and all got fixed. This happened twice already. I will attempt installing and trying again in a few days.

What is actually happening is the Pixel Launcher is crashing (something the Pixel team fixed in more recent Android releases that won't make it to the Pixel 4, unfortunately), so what you actually can do is "Force Stop" the Pixel Launcher from the Settings app to get it back in a working state.

The app is awesome when it works. A few times while using this app for just over a year or so as my main wallpaper method. The app just dies and can not be opened for a few days up to a week, and then it goes back to working again. I'm not sure what is causing it to happen, but uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't fix it and only waiting til it magically starts working again is what works...frustrating for sure *Edit sent an email to dev, hoping to help with the issue

The next time this happens, can you reach out to us at support@muzei.co - we'd be happy to get to the bottom of the issue.

the app looks really nice and clean. The main reason I installed it was to change my home screen wallpaper. On Samsung S10 with O launcher the double tap to change background doesn't work although I have enabled it. It would be great if it could be fixed. Edit: the 3 tap works which is great. But I think O launcher does support the two tap as well since I can use two taps to change the wallpaper when I was using the Wallpaper Changer app.

The 'Double Tap' gesture relies on the launcher implementing the COMMAND_TAP API. The three finger tap uses a different mechanism, which allows it to work even on those launchers that don't support the double tap gesture As an alternative, you can switch to a third party launcher such as Nova Launcher or Action Launcher which do support double tap
