About this app

Muzei is a live wallpaper that gently refreshes your home screen each day with famous works of art. It also recedes into the background, blurring and dimming artwork to keep your icons and widgets in the spotlight. Simply double touch the wallpaper or open the Muzei app to enjoy and explore the artwork in its full glory.

Alternatively, you can choose your favorite photos from your own gallery or other apps to use on your home screen. To keep your wallpaper fresh, Muzei will rotate through your favorite photos every few hours.

Finally, Muzei is developer-friendly. All the code is available at http://code.muzei.co and Muzei even offers a simple API that allows you to build your own wallpaper source. For API details, visit http://api.muzei.co.

If you use a third party Legacy Source, you must disable Battery Optimizations on that app to allow it to continue to load artwork. See https://medium.com/muzei/muzei-3-0-and-legacy-sources-8261979e2264 for more details.

Muzei now includes a watch face for Android Wear, so you can see your latest wallpaper right on your wrist!

Featured artwork in Muzei is curated daily by our small staff and made possible thanks to WikiArt.org and its contributors.

This app is pretty good I've had it for like 10 minutes and have only one minor complaint/recommendation for the devs: When I put an image into the app and tell it to use that as a background, it would be awesome to be able to preview and adjust the image. P.S. I'm using the feature that lets you have many photos as wallpapers

Thanks for the feedback! As per our FAQ, Muzei can't control exactly how images are displayed: it is your launcher, not Muzei, that controls the offset of the images from side to side and what happens when you move between pages of your launcher: https://github.com/muzei/muzei/discussions/711 Please contact us at support@muzei.co for anything else!

App is awesome and works as described, it has a great selection of artworks and allows you to pick from other art or user your own photos. I wish it would allow the art work to move when you go from home page to the other pages on the main screen to see all of the art work. Other than that I love it.

Thanks for the kind words! What happens when you swipe between pages is 100% controlled by your launcher as per our FAQ: https://github.com/muzei/muzei/discussions/711 - consider using a third party launcher like Nova Launcher or Action Launcher if your wallpaper is not shifting or not centering the image.

The app is great, but i have one issue that's really annoying. My setup is using a single home screen, a landscape image (using Reddit extension), and the phone is in portrait mode. Instead of displaying the center of the image, Muzei acts like I have two home screens and shows me the left side instead of the middle. I'm not quite sure how to fix this, but it's super annoying and I just want it to be centered. EDIT: Devs responded, I switched back to Nova Launcher and everything works fine now.

Muzei always centers the image in the space the launcher provides. Unfortunately, some launchers say there are two screens even if you only have one (and Muzei can't tell the difference). Third party launchers, such as Nova Launcher, have settings to disable wallpaper scrolling and always centers the image.

What's new

- Muzei now automatically swaps between a bottom navigation when in portrait and a navigation rail alongside the left side of the screen when in landscape
- Fixed a regression with the Tasker integration that was introduced in Muzei 3.4.4
- Fixed a number of crash issues in previous Muzei 3.4.5 builds, particularly on Android 4.4 devices

Note that live wallpaper apps crash on Android 12 Beta 1 due to https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/188636390 - please update to Android 12 Beta 2.
