Excellent to quick design
Really useful app Robust, flexible & accurate. I like the new nomograph - I'd not come across that before - its a good way to explain the lens equation purely graphically. Definitely one to keep!
A unique tool for optical instrument design This tool allows you to calculate the object size that will fill a given CCD at a given distance with a given lens, as well as many other useful parameters such as the depth of field. You enter just the focal length, object distance, image height (CCD height) and the f-number (or stop radius). The latter is used to calculate the depth of field. My only criticism is that it is more complex than it need be. Seriously, you don't need to adjust these parameters by pulling on a diagram - just enter the numbers. Then the ray diagram is superfluous. There is a (too) long help file, but it doesn't actually define the parameters. There a diagram would be helpful, with the formulae used for the calculations. It could even link to Wikipedia definitions of the optical parameters. But it is uniquely useful and appears to give physically correct results. Good work!
