On my Acer Z220 (Lollipop), I have set the Settings>Display>Sleep: Never. Still, when OSMAND is running actively on my phone the screen shuts off after 2 minute and voice guidance stops. How can I get around this? Thanks! ***UPDATE*** After complete system restore and reinstall of OSMAND its back to being the sweet app I used to have! SIMPLY THE BEST GPS NAVIGATION WITH SPOKEN STREET NAMES!!!
Man this app is complicated! It “looks good” but it’s all over the place (preferences for this here, setting for that there, where are my favorites, how to save or review routes with waypoints, how to mofidy the order of waypoints, etc) . Way more complicated than it should. I like being able to download everything including maps and POIs but it’s super complicated to understand where everything is and how to do things. Not intuitive at all. No 3D navigation and after the voice tells me my distance for my route, no voice guidance (it’s there on the phone and not on mute). No response to my email from dev. Uninstalling until it gets better….was thinking of buying but oh well. Next.
Decent, room to improve This app has all the basic features and more. However, the interface is very complex and difficult to use. You have to already know what to do to consider it useful. Search especially a hot mess; there are many, many categories and if you pick the wrong one you won't find anything. It returns results close to where you are, not close to where you are looking on the map, which makes it difficult to look stuff up around a place you want to visit. The visual look has been updated but the same UX problems exist
This app does a lot of things right - lane guidance, spoken street names, offline address search, etc. Which makes it all the more surprising that something as basic as a 3D view while using navigation isn't included. I can't give more than 3 stars as long as that crucial feature is missing.
Used in Canada - I tried a lot of free gps apps but this one outclassed them all. Great offline and online maps. The UI is a bit messy but isn't hard to figure out. Also by far the best for navigation except that you can't navigate to an address, only a selected point (which is well implemented), two street intersection, or POI. If an address feature was added this app would be better than the paid apps as well. An example of how free apps should be. EDIT: Apparently I CAN search by address. Even better.
Amazing so many features. I have finally learned how to set it for my preferences and use. Lots of reading, however very worthwhile. I love the speed limit warnings most are correct, I would like to help to update some. I suppose another learning curve there. Anyway thanks for this great app.
- New Wikipedia data structured by country and containing much more points than before
- Better routing recalculation (after several attempts engine suggests a different route)
- POI Search supports more specific queries (like fuel type and religion specific queries)
- Display turn arrows on route
- Orange color for POIs that are closed in 30 minutes from now
- Many fixes in different areas
- Additional favorites backup in case of application corruption or different issues
