This is very much in line with DQ 1. The game itself is not all that long. But grinding, getting experience and buying new equipment is a must. So if you aren't into that sort of thing, you may want to find something else. The game also introduces an interesting way to individualize your characters through grinding with weapons and magic. If I had a complaint is that the controls need some updates, as well as the translation. I have not yet played Dotquest Re, so some of the control issues as well as translation may have been fixed in that version. Honestly though, this is a really good game for those of us just wanting that good old fashioned JRPG kick. If that is what you are looking for, I don't believe you will be disappointed. Also, I am highly looking forward to the English versions of the sequel and the Gaiden. Good job with this game.

Translation is extremely poor. There is no world map. The difficulty curve from the start of the game is set too high. For some reason, the main character is always refered to as the "brave man" and not by name. His picture even looks a little awkward compared to his comrades'. I don't like having to change the screen size every time I start the game. The game crashes at random, and also every time you lose a battle. It makes no sense having ads in a game that has no in-app purchases.
