Best alternative to ES explorer without the crappy background services. Only thing I want to add is to sort folders and files individually on each screen and folder rather than applying the one setting to all. like main storage should be alphabetical but downloads should be ”most recent first”. Once again thank you for the app
I really, REALLY want to like this app SO MUCH. It's easy, intuitive, and most importantly it respects user privacy, which is always my biggest concern - HOWEVER, the ONE thing I primarily wanted it for (accessing home network Samba-hosted files and moving them to and from my phone) simply doesn't work reliably in ANY sense. This is especially bad considering that SMB functionality is one of the features that must be PAID FOR in order to activate it, and it just doesn't work.
Great app and a responsive and helpful dev. A little less nagging about root operations would be nice though. If I went through the steps of getting root, I should know what I'm doing by now and not need to click through 3 pop ups and manually remount the folder RW each time I make a change. Also the image viewer doesn't play gif for some reason, but these are minor! App has the features you want but cuts the bloat!
Excellent file manager but is not so great compared to other free solutions out there. Showing a Green light when a server/share is online is way to slow. Can take 20 to 30 seconds sometimes. Other free solutions take only a second or 2. Also there is and issue with OTG flash drives. Plug one in, FX prompts you to see t the drive on the next screen to grant permissions, however when the next screen is displayed, there is no drive there. Do this in other free file managers and it works fine. Hell even the free version of ES works properly. I paid for FXs advanced features and its no longer good enough. On another note though, once the share/server is deemed to be online (after the extensive wait) copying files from a PC, NAS, FTP server is extremely fast over both N and Especially AC network's. The ease of copying and pasting between 2 windows is second to none.
Tried a few file managers to use to connect with my samba shares after es explorer became too annoying to use. The other apps fell short in one way or another but fx works well for the things I need. Samba has worked flawlessly and although there is a slight delay on opening the shares this is mainly due to the disk coming off standby. Once connected accessing files is fast. Worth paying for the add-on for network connection once the trial ended.
I really liked this app until today. I can't find anywhere to unzip a zip file. I visited the xda thread for it and searched for unzip. The only recent one I found wanted something in the menu to unzip instead of a long press I've tried both and don't see a way to unzip. I had to use Root Explorer instead. Am I really that stupid?
