1. PROFESSIONAL IMAGE: DIALOGUE APP FOR TEACHER AND TEAM
This dialogue app aims to support teachers and teacher teams in conversations about career development. The app contains 48 questions that can be the starting point for individual reflection on personal career development and ambition, for a development interview with a manager, or for a dialogue within the team about the use of each other's qualities.
The dialogue app is in line with the professional images that have been developed for teachers and that make career opportunities visible. These professional images can be found at www.beroepsbeeldvoordeleraar.nl.
The professional image consists of four work areas. the first and most important area is providing education for students and apprentices. This is the core of the profession. But in addition to that area, there are three other areas that can be part of the teacher's responsibilities. The three areas are innovating education, learning from and with colleagues and organizing education. A teacher's career can move in different directions in the form of broadening tasks or deepening expertise.
The dialogue app was initially developed for MBO teachers, but can also be used in primary and secondary education (for example, by reading 'teacher' or 'teacher' instead of 'teacher').
2. INSTRUCTIONS
You can use the PROFESSIONAL IMAGE dialogue app in different ways: alone, with your manager (for example during a performance interview) or with your team.
When answering the questions or conducting the dialogue, make sure that you have the teacher's professional image to hand (in print or as a PDF from a screen). The professional image can be found at www.bvmbo.nl/beroepsbeeld or www.beroepsbeeldvoordeleraar.nl.
Tip: for the team meeting, the professional image can be printed on a carpet (see www.bvmbo.nl/beroepsbeeld).
3. DIALOGUE FORMS
A. IF YOU USE THE APP ALONE
View the different questions. You can answer the questions in any order or pick a few questions that appeal to you.
Use the answers as input for shaping your career.
B. WITH YOUR EXECUTIVE
View the different questions. Choose one or more cards with questions that you would like to discuss with your manager. Use the answers as input for the conversation or for the design of your career.
C. WITH YOUR TEAM
Decide together what the purpose of the team discussion is. During the preparation, the team can choose questions that the team wants to see answered. As a team, reserve sufficient time and space for the team discussion and ensure a safe climate.
Use the results of the conversation as input for making a division of labor or training plans or for a conversation with the manager about what the team needs in terms of expertise, depending on the purpose of the conversation.
For all three forms of dialogue, you can also use the dialogue tool in your own way: be creative!
