About this app

In this study we use a smartphone app, called "10 Years Up" app. The app is available in the Playstore or App store. If you participate in the survey, we ask you to indicate once every three months which goals apply to you at that time and how you want to achieve these goals. The app consists of several parts:

About your goals: here you first indicate which goals apply to you by swiping different goals to the left (this goal does not apply to me) or right (this goal applies to me). Then you choose which of the chosen goals is the most important at the moment. Finally, you answer a number of questions about how you think about your main goal and what you do to achieve your main goal.

About you: in this section we ask a number of questions about your environment and personality every three months. The questions we ask each time deal with a different topic.

Time capsule: the time capsule is a kind of treasure chest in which you can send letters to your future self. These letters can cover a variety of topics, such as things you are proud of, your dreams for the future, places you still want to go, or a description of what your life will look like. You can decide whether you want to open your treasure chest again after 1, 3, 5 or 10 years. When you open your treasure chest you can see which of your dreams and wishes have come true.
