Norwegian Romani is the language of Norwegian travelers, also called Tatars and Romani people, a people who first came to Norway in the 16th century. In Romani, travelers call themselves wanderers.
The Norwegian Romani dictionary is primarily a testimony of today's Romani. We have nevertheless included a few old words, which are probably not heard today. The idea is that these words will come into use again. We have also put a lot of effort into showing the language in a context. We have therefore collected many examples of sentences. Here this glossary differs from previous glossaries.
This edition of the Norwegian Romani dictionary contains just over 400 words. Not all of the words are in use today, but I didn't win more in this direction. The material in the glossary was collected between 2020 and 2022.
