TEN-3 is a community-based exposure notification app, supported by the NRCC (National Research Council of Canada) and available for download and use in Canada.

TEN-3 empowers all of us to do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19, while supporting local businesses and protecting the long-term health of our community.

TEN-3 does not use Bluetooth, GPS, or location services. TEN-3 does not trace you. Rather, TEN-3 focuses on high potential “events”, creating time-based social bubbles for people sharing specific experiences. These bubbles work because of the “care and concern” they represent, ensuring timely communication of potential infections.

In simple terms, TEN-3, through the use of QR codes, allows individuals to anonymously check-in and out of “events” such as flights, restaurants, movies, offices, etc. establishing shared social bubbles with those meeting the criteria (time/distance) for potential transmission.

In the event of a positive COVID-19 test, individuals can report, through a verified process that initiates an immediate push notification message to all others within the shared event bubbles.

What is in it for me?

- Allows me to do my part – we are all in this together

- Better protects me, my family, and my community

- Helps me support local businesses and protect the long-term health of my community

- Protects my Privacy

- User friendly and easy to use

How it works

1. Scan into an event

TEN-3 uses QR-codes to make checking into events simple and seamless. By scanning a TEN-3 code the associated event will be automatically added to your dashboard and your device ID will be added to the relevant "Event Bubble". Once signed in, you can relax and enjoy your event.

2. Close your bubble

When you leave your event, you must close the active event bubble. If you forget, there is a pre-programmed event time of 2 hours and you will be prompted to extend or close your bubble if you have not done so by that time. Closing the bubble prevents additional devices from being added to your bubble after you leave.

3. Be notified

If an individual who was in one of your event bubbles tests positive for COVID-19 they will submit an exposure report. This allows you and anyone else who was potentially exposed to be informed within seconds and take the necessary precautions. These include self-isolating, contacting your local health agency, and getting tested.

4. Send a report

If you test positive for COVID-19 you will be asked to submit an exposure report. After pressing the "Report" button you must verify your device ID by entering a 4-digit verification code. Once the device has been verified your event bubbles will be anonymously notified and asked to take the necessary precautions.

5. Rest Easy

By using the TEN-3 app you can rest easy knowing that you and your loved ones will be informed and notified immediately if you have been at risk of COVID-19 exposure. We are all in this together, so let's do our part to keep each other safe.

Your Privacy is Protected

The TEN-3 app was built to be compliant with the principles of privacy and security by design. On top of that, we only collect information that is required for the app to function (an email and phone number for verification purposes) and maintain your anonymity by using an alphanumeric device ID as the identifier for Event Bubbles.

In addition to collecting minimal information, all of your Event Bubble data will be deleted 14 days after the event has concluded, mirroring the transmission period of COVID-19. This allows us to hold your data for as short a period of time as possible while remaining an effective tool for exposure notification.
