Ljuda med Boo is the original app for phonological training – since 2016, Boo has helped children aged 3–6 to play around with Swedish language sounds. Unlike a game, this is a calm, open space where children and adults can freely work with sounds together: listen, imitate, experiment and repeat.

Boo clearly shows what happens to the mouth, tongue and vocal cords when he pronounces language sounds and syllables – which attracts spontaneous imitation and repetition. Phonological awareness is also strengthened, which is a documented important basis for pronunciation, reading and writing development.

With Boo, the child can:
• practice individual language sounds at a leisurely pace
• distinguish between voiced and voiceless consonants (the vocal cords are visualized)
• harmonize into simple syllables
• connect letters to language sounds in early reading training
• record and listen to yourself together with Boo
• control the tempo: slow, repeated or just sound movements without sound

The full version contains:
The consonants P B T D K G S F V M N NG L J H, three variants of the R sound, the sje and tje sounds, the consonant connections SP ST SK and the vowels A E I O U Y Å Ä Ö.

For whom?
The app is aimed at children aged 3–6 who have, or would need to have, contact with a speech therapist or speech therapist due to pronunciation difficulties. Boo is also a good support for those learning Swedish as a second language – both children and adults.

For adults
Behind an adult lock are instructions, tips from the speech therapist and settings – such as hiding or showing individual sounds, or letting Boo encourage children with concentration difficulties. A small mini-game allows the child to identify speech sounds when Boo makes them, auditory and visual or just visual.

Developed by a licensed speech therapist
The app was developed directly from speech therapy experience with children with verbal dyspraxia and phonological language disorder, and has been used by children, parents, preschools and speech therapists since 2016.

Boo is available in two apps
Ljuda med Boo is the original app – an open space for working freely with speech sounds, often together with an adult. Please try the LITE version with limited content before you buy this. Hoppa med Boo is a platform game where the child more independently practices speech sounds in five levels. The apps complement each other well – but work individually.
