About this game

Welcome to the Echo Cluster, a dense cluster of star systems, rich in resources and native life. Over three hundred years ago the 11 races arrived marking the start of a complex and brutal history which is still unfolding today.

They brought with them a dangerous and powerful technology, which has allowed elite members of society to skip through time by accelerating close to the speed of light, slowing relative time and then decelerating to alter the course of history again and again. These people are commonly referred to as Echos.

As an ambitious leader, you seek access to this technology to make your mark on history. To get it you’ll need to learn the lessons of the past and climb the ladder of society. Unlocking the secrets of history and forging glory in the present.

Be aware though, the road is more perilous than ever, as a new ruthless species has arrived, and is disrupting life in the Echo Cluster. They are known as the Horwasp Plague.

Planets.nu is a graphical multi-player play by turn war game that simulates combat in space between galactic empires. The game emphasizes mining, colonization and the construction of starships. Players compete against each other economically and militarily on a galactic scale.

The game system allows players to construct starships by selecting various components and placing them on a given hull type. There are usually 11 players in a game, each playing a different race with special ships and abilities, but there are other formats as well.

At the start of a game, each player is given a planet, a starbase, and a ship. The players have to manage their planet's population and resources wisely.

They can create more ships and expand their domain through colonization or conquest of neighboring planets. Of course, all players are attempting to do the same thing, so the fleets will, inevitably, engage in combat from time to time.

Planets.nu can be compared to a multi-player chess game in which all players move all their pieces simultaneously, one turn at a time.

I understand people not being a fan of the Tutorial...but it's a tutorial and doesn't represent the Planets NU true depth, or addictiveness. The game originates from a version in the 1990's...well before the Play Store or IOS or Andriod was even around and has stood the test of time because of a great international community and because the game itself is the DEEPEST game out there. I have played them ALL. It is ok to start with mobile OS but the experience opens up when you switch to PC!!!!!!!!

Fun, turn-based, space scifi war game (modernized version of VGA Planets), but fyi... seems the main way to play this game (*seriously*) is to use a web browser. Mobile app is fine for 1 vs AI games, casual gamers, and generally handy for game stuff on the go, but currently not nearly as fully featured as using a big screen web browser (with addons). The communtiy forums (accessible with the app) are great place to get help as are the in-game info data pages & web "wiki" pages for this game.

Omg, the tutorial is the worst. I tried 3 x New Games to try and learn/figure out what I was doing wrong. The controls are not clear enough, and you better hear the instructions the 1st time. You're only told - detailed instructions - once. I gave my son a try, and he did better, but as much as I wanna play this, I can't nail it down. Please make the tutorial clearer. I know I'll love this.
