This interactive module explores the phases, control points and regulatory proteins of the cell cycle. The module also shows how mutations in the genes that code for cell cycle regulators can lead to cancer development.
Students can explore the cell cycle from two perspectives with this module. By pressing “Cell cycle phases” the cell cycle phases are visited with information about the control points, with an appropriate level of detail for students of general high school biology. Pressing "Cell cycle regulators and cancer" gives access to information about the proteins that regulate the cell cycle and how mutated versions of these proteins can lead to cancer, with an appropriate level for AP / IB and university Biology.
