ruined a good thing before this update this was a more than adequate tuner (considering its a phone/tablet app). you could adjust the mic sensitivity and (imo) the accuracy was much higher. now the adds are bigger and they made it TOO universal and TOO complicated. doesnt need to be. i can even tolerate the adds if the product is worth it. sadly I'll be uninstalling this app after years of use. who knows many of you might like/love it but its time for me to move on.
1. gStrings 2. Daylight. Easily the best tuner app I've used. The interface is clean & clear, allowing greater ease of use by idiots like me. The best thing about gStrings Free is that you're not limited to one or two tunings. Love it. Edit: I was asked to review again cos I still use the app. Every day, without fail. That's review enough, I suppose. Use a Nexus 5 now & all still humming along. Accepted the Waves trial but still used gStrings 90% of the time during the week.
My favorite guitar tuner I have used this app for years, downloaded way back in 2012. It's been good all through the updates. I use it for my acoustic guitars. It is more precise and easier to use than a few handheld tuners I own. It has many commonly used tunings preprogrammed in for convenience, including my favorite tuning - open D major. It also has settings for other stringed instruments such as ukuleles. Highly recommended for guitar players!
Older version was MUCH better! I am a professional musician and have used this app beginning with my first smart phone. Even though it was geared for guitar, it easily could be adapted for use with band and orchestra instruments. Now...just strings. I have found a more suitable app. I really liked the old format, as with my students I could use the app to teach the concept of concert pitch to my students. Please add band and orchestra instruments!
1 star I am using gstrings like 4 years now and recently i am not really able to tune my guitar, because it's not listening! I see the Hz goes up, but it does not show anything.. it's really fustrating.. I just think I have to say goodbye to Gstrings after using it for many years.. I really loved it.. but its not really working anymore. Goodbye i am gunna search for new tuners
Works VERY well. It is exactly what it says: a tuner. The auto detect works great! Starts right up, I've never had any issues with this app. Period. Tunes my bass, my guitars, and my mandolins. Never has a problem picking up the sound, even in somewhat noisy rooms. Of all the tuners I have downloaded, this is possibly the best. No extra crap, no gimmicks. Just a nice, very functional tuner that you will not regret downloading. Good job, Dev.
What's new? Everything! v2.0 is a complete rewrite of the successful, but aging tuner released 7 years ago. It has an updated fundamental detection engine, fancy material design and a few new tricks up its sleeve. Hope you like it.
1. improved fundamental frequency detection,
2. fixed tinting of appcompat radio button selectors.
